Things to Do / Things to Know

I wanted to collect information that may make it easier for you to understand the Grayton Beach area. Below are some things to do and some helpful hints.

Beach – First of all, Grayton Beach – is awesome. It is very unique for a few reasons. First, the village of Grayton Beach is sandwiched between two state park areas. This gives you freedom to roam. Second, there is a very shallow bay that is at the east side of the beach. Any given day, this is filled with children having an amazing time.

Pool – After a sandy, warm day it feels amazing to jump into our pool. Just big enough to have a good soak and for kids to play.

Shuttle Bus – Grayton Beach is becoming a pedestrian town. Parking is very difficult. Because of this, there is a shuttle bus that comes to our corner literally every 10 minutes or so that carries people who park in a parking lot at the red light up the street. We ride this shuttle bus up the street back to the corner and eat dinner at various restaurants and shop at the stores. In addition, there is ANOTHER shuttle bus that goes to Seaside every 15 minutes. Their parking lot adjoins this one. So, in a nutshell, you can grab a shuttle from our corner, ride it to the red light, get another shuttle there and go to Seaside. You can have all the fun you want and then ride them back. This is nice!

Fishing – This is a very unique “Grayton” thing. Various fishing charters actually launch from the beach right in Grayton. I love watching the boats launch and return. Roughly speaking, a 4 hour charter will be about $750.00. Always a fun time.

Eat/Drink – Obviously we are partial to Chiringo’s (can’t be any more convenient) and Red Bar – because it is the Red Bar. I must say that I was apprehensive about buying a home located right next door to a very popular bar/restaurant. The reality though is that the location of the home is amazing and the management and staff of Chiringo’s are so friendly and nice. Just ask them a question and they will accommodate you the best they can. I must add that I am also partial to Hurricanes Oyster Bar and Grill up near the red light. I have never been disappointed. For those who like a later night, AJ’s always has something going. Easy stroll up the street. Best Restaurants Guide

Paddle Board – Chiringo’s rents these right next door. Very nice YOLO boards – reasonably priced.

Grayton Beach State Park – It is very nice having this next door. Every now and then, we will venture over there to just explore. A cool thing to do is go check out the man made reefs that are located there. When you go to the State Park and park in the parking lot, walk towards the beach and head west. You will see 2 poles on the “land” side of the beach. When you’re in the water, line these 2 poles up- this will point you to the man made reefs that are about 75 yards in the water.

Seaside – Truman Show – watch it !

Blue Mountain – West of our area. Go to the red light at the top of our street and take a left. New restaurants opening up all the time.

Bikes – Even though we are so close to the beach, we like to go on bike rides. We have a few bikes at our home for your enjoyment.

Jogging Trail – Go to the top of our street and take a left or right at the light. Nice wide path that many people use. Watch out for the electric bikes though – they clip along sometimes.

For a more adventurous run, go through the red light and head north about a quarter mile. There are state park entrances on the right and left.

Shopping – Seaside and Rosemary Beach are my wife’s favorites.
